About:

I created this blog on a few promises. Bloggers whom I respect and whose sites I admire will, I imagine, now cross their fingers and toes in the hope they'll be relieved of the many impositions I've presumed upon them over the last few years. I must thank them here for their encouragement.

"Jaundiced Eye" was the name of Donald Macdonald's column which he wrote for 15 years in a local Southern Ontario newspaper before moving out to British Columbia to spend his final years. He was my step-father and a wonderful man whom I won't hold a candle to; I named this blog in his memory and pray I do it as honourably as he did.

The rest, for now, will be a test of succinctness, a lexical Bayeux Tapestry, as't were, king of the zodiac (imp of the Chinese zodiac), Yahweh and Odin ( and fellow travellers Laotze and Jeshua), Hogtown, an Upper Canada hamlet frozen in time, British Columbia, Tommy Douglas, Hohner, Fender, an island community in the Salish Sea, Ginger Goodwin, Gibson, Chomsky, Ernesto and Fidel, Frank Proffitt, the Bible, A Short History of Progress, Neruda and Purdy, trees---very big and small.

Moon River, Cash, Lennon, Hendrix, Johnson, Richards, Webb, Marley.

That's all for now,

Scotty on Denman

PS The two scariest books I ever read were Dostoyevsky's "The Possessed" and Bugliosi's "Helter Skelter."
